Alphadex Disputes British Gas’ Winding-up Petition Attempt

British Gas have reportedly filed a petition to wind up UK colocation outfit Alphadex. However Alphadex have said that British Gas are refusing to discuss what they believe are errors in the bills and said that dispute, rather than any financial weakness, is behind the energy company’s petition to wind them up. 

Alphadex’s Winding-up Petition Dispute

Alphadex reportedly released this comment in response to British Gas’ attempt to wind them up:

” …we have been paying British Gas (BG) almost 5 times the appropriate Electricity Availability Charge (EAC). Our current Contracted Electricity Availability is 347 KVA, we are paying for nearly 1940 KVA, a financial difference of over £4,000 per month!  Over the 30 months we have been a customer of BG, this has mounted up in excess of £120,000… we have had no option other than cease paying our monthly invoice. Rather than BG communicating with us over the issue, they have decided to take the legal route to force payment of their invoices which we do not believe are due, hence the Winding Up Petition.”

British Gas’ petition against Alphadex will be heard at The Royal Courts of Justice (Rolls Building) on 14 April 2014 as per the London Gazette notice:

Any person intending to appear on the hearing of the Petition (whether to support or oppose it) must give notice of intention to do so to the Petitioner or its Solicitor in accordance with Rule 4.16 by 1600 hours on 11 April 2014 .
