Northampton Town fundraising efforts have been boosted by fellow English football league club Coventry City, who have agreed to help the supporters’ trust in their bid to raise £100,000. Coventry City fans will hold a bucket collection to support Northampton Town FC when the clubs meet in the FA Cup this Saturday, 7 November.Â
Winding Up Petition to be Heard in the High Court
Northampton Town Football Club Supporters’ Trust has now raised £25,000 with less than two weeks until the winding up petition is heard in the High Court. In attempts to raise funds towards the outstanding HMRC tax bill, believed to be £166,000, Coventry City FC Supporters’ Trust have teamed up with the Cobblers in a bid to reach their target.
A joint statement from both supporters’ trusts, reportedly states:
“Northampton Town is at risk of going into liquidation. The initial target is £100,000. Funds raised will be used to deliver a more functional voice for supporters in any club in the future. This may mean negotiating with a new owner, administrators or the establishment of a phoenix club.”
