Administrators called in as Botanic faces an uncertain future

Botanic Inns Limited, the Belfast based pub, restaurant and hotel group has gone into administration amidst the economic downturn.

Botanic Inns Limited grew from a family run company to a brand with over 14 venues in and around Belfast, becoming Northern Ireland’s biggest pub chain.

The landlord of the company’s Ormeau Road headquarters had in April 2013 lodged a winding up petition against Botanic Inns Limited for a debt believed to be around £60,615.

The company has struggled to cope with cash flow and as a consequence, administrators are seeking a buyer for Botanic Inns Limited and sister company Kurkova Limited.

Joint Administrators KPMG, John Hansen and Stuart Irwin (accountants of the company’s Belfast office) had stated that they “are currently undertaking a review of the business and have spoken to management, the workforce and other stakeholders in an effort to determine a successful outcome to the administrations, namely the survival of the business as a growing concern”.
