Bury FC earns reprieve at London’s High Court

In London’s High Court, the judge was told by HMRC’s counsel that an unpaid tax bill had been settled.

Maxim Cardew, Counsel for HMRC, told Registrar Christine Derrett that the bill has now been “paid in full” but did not confirm how much the club owed in tax.

HMRC continues to take a robust stance against football, rugby and other sporting clubs that fail to pay debts owed to HMRC which could be VAT, PAYE, Corporation Tax or other taxes that HMRC collects.
