HMRC Issue Winding up Proceedings Against Shropshire Based Hotel

Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (“HMRC”) have reportedly issued a winding-up petition against Elysian Hotels Ltd, the parent company of the Mill at Alveley, near Bridgnorth, claiming to be a creditor of the suffering business.

Winding up Proceedings

The winding up petition will be heard at the Royal Courts of Justice in London on 26 January 2015.

Elysian Hotels Ltd reportedly received a letter from Companies House, which warned them that the company faced being dissolved because it was not believed to be carrying out its operations, this would mean that the hotel would be considered ‘bona vacantia’.

However, the winding-up petition from HMRC could provide hope for those who lost out by the closure of the hotel, including couples who lost out on their wedding cash.

The winding-up of the company could see liquidators gain the right to sell the Shropshire based hotel, and at the same time pay back the creditors.
