The High Court is reportedly due to hear a winding-up order on 19 December 2016 against the country’s oldest professional team, Notts County FC.
Another Winding Up Petition
HMRC have brought another winding up petition against Notts County FC due to outstanding tax bills. Notts County FC have previously received  winding-up petitions brought by HMRC in 2010, 2013 and earlier this year. The club managed to get each petition dismissed by paying outstanding tax debts to HMRC.
In a statement to reporters, Jason Turner (chief executive) reportedly (via Nottingham Post) said:
“I know this will be a frustration to you all, but I am unable to provide you with detailed information on the current financial situation at the club. However, I am assured that our current debt to HMRC will be settled ahead of the scheduled court date.”
Notts County FC is up for sale but a buyer is yet to be found.
