Winding-Up Petition

On the 25th January 2019, it was reported by the BBC that the ownership of the club had been relinquished by Mike Cuddy, and taken over by Jardine Norton, the finance company that had issued the winding up petition back in December.

Reportedly, Cuddy had been preparing to hand over his title in any event, due to apparent ill-health. Following the December winding-up order, the Cardiff Civil Justice Centre deemed Neath RFC insolvent, but claimed that the paperwork surrounding their debt of £31,000 was unclear. Following this the order was left to be heard on January 30th 2019.

Despite the past few months of doubt, the petition has officially been struck out. Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC) have confirmed that the debt has been paid in full. The BBC claims that the club, who were glorified as champions between 1909 and 1990, can now ‘’look forward to a ‘’brighter future’’.’’
